Mevis is an Associate Advocate in the Real Estate & Finance Department with over three (3) years’ experience in the practice of law. Her main focus has been on mortgage lending, leasing (landlord and tenant), real estate development, construction (owner, contractor, lender, and architect), sale and purchase of land, commercial and industrial properties, real estate brokerage and management, joint venture partnerships, mortgage foreclosures and loan workouts.
She holds a Bachelor of Laws degree from Jomo Kenyatta University and Technology, a Post Graduate Diploma in Law from the Kenya School of Law and a Higher Diploma in Project Management from the Kenya Institute of Management.
Was part of the team representing a developer of residential housing units located in Athi River.
Advising Clients in connection with transactions of land acquisition and land control requirements.
Preparation and perfection of Charges, Debentures, Guarantees over movable and immovable assets totaling over Kshs.1B.
Reviewing and drafting agreements for sales and including coordinating with Surveyors carrying out extensive due diligence on properties.
Represented a financial institution in a Land Control Board hearing at Naivasha with seeking consent to charge agricultural land with a value of KSH 500,000,000.
Acted for various Clients in the purchase of apartments across the country.
Issuing legal opinions on various aspects of property and banking laws.
Drafting and advising on several real estate transactions including commercial leases, residential leases and tenancy agreements.
Reviewing, drafting and registration of Transfers and Leases.
Advising Clients on Letters of Offer and the process of security perfection.
Part of the teams advising Clients on various matters arising from the Movable Property Security Rights Act and Data Protection Act.
